Drawing Locations

How to draw locations for reporting and alerting on activity in specified areas

Drawing Locations

Fleetpin Locations enable you to report on your assets activity while in a specified area, such as hours spent on site or how many times a supplier has been visited. With the Location Alert add-on, you can be alerted when an asset arrives or leaves a location. Locations can be created both ahead of time or retrospectively, meaning you can create a location after a job has been completed and easily report on the time spent at that site.

To Draw a Location:

From the tracking menu, click Locations at the bottom right of the screen:

Zoom in on the location you want to draw and click Draw Location:

Draw your location:

Simply click points around the boundary of the area to draw your location, and connect back to the original point to complete your location.

Adding Location Details:

Once you have drawn the location a form will appear where you will need to add the location name. From this menu you can also:

  • Write a description of the location.
  • Add the location to a location group that can be used for easy filtering and reporting. When creating location groups you can select the colour, speed limit and road type for the group.
  • Mark the road type as on road, off road, or Auto (use NZTA data to determine this automatically).
  • Assign a custom speed limit to the area if vehicles are only allowed to go specific speeds in the location.
  • Select the retrospectively since button to make reporting for this location available using historical tracking data.

Note: If at any point you want to reset and start drawing your location again, by clicking the Draw Location button again, this will exit you out of drawing the location and you can repeat the process again.
